A New Year Is Just Around The Corner...

A new year is just around the corner and it is that time of year to reflect on the past 12 months and look forward to new challenges and changes. The past year has been eventful and all in all I have enjoyed most of the year as I have accomplished quite a lot of projects and been involved in some interesting situations.

I have not been able to complete everything I set out to do this year but have managed to get most of my goals for the year completed, I have revamped the blogging network a few times over the past year and found it has grown really well with more readers than ever before and it is still hard to believe well over 25000 people have viewed this blog.

My new digital journey of using Instagram has been great with plenty of likes and few comments from some really creative people, from the responses of the people on Instagram I have seen a surge in viewers regarding my Rome content from 2011  and had some great response to my travel pictures, I will be posting more photos each day or so from now on so if you want to see them be sure to follow my Instagram account. kvlog101 instagram

Christmas was very enjoyable catching up with all the family and a few mates I have not seen seen in a while, I didn't snow this year and most of December has had some great weather and it has only started to turn colder over the past few days with a couple of days of ice and frost but  hopefully it will not turn as bad as last year... Snow can be nice but not when it turns the streets in to a car park its no fun...

This new year should see more content on the blogs and I am hoping to do some bigger and better projects over the year that will all be documented on the blogs each month or so. I have decided against making any new years resolutions as they will only get cast aside halfway though the year but I already have an idea of my schedule for this next year regarding my blog and my photography projects.

The games blog will make a comeback in the spring with some more indie games content and more news related content. So be sure to keep up with the blog if you liked my old  indie games articles and reviews and the main content on this blog.

There are going to be few changes over the next couple of months with different things that are happening at the moment, but it should not effect much of the blogging content so be sure to keep following my social media and this blog if you want to see what I am up to and all the latest news.

Thanks for reading and supporting the blog.

The Big Blog Update... Time, News, Games, Opera, Sales and More...

Time seems to have gone nowhere recently and in the the time that has past from posting on here last time I have been up to a few bits and just working from day to day. On several occasion i have told myself to post something on here but found no inspiration to just sit and write...

So lets start at the beginning shall we?

I have been posting loads of photos to my Instagram account and have had loads of great feedback from people and everyone seems to be liking the pictures from Rome that I took in 2011. I am going to be posting a few more Rome pictures then moving on to some of the London collection I have amassed over the years. Link to my Instgram can be found here: Instagram

Also in other news...

I have been building up a collection of better tools in the sales and designing several building projects that will be released throughout next year I am working on a project with my dad next year to build something rather special that will be documented on the Projects blog, I am also updating part of my desk with new extension that should be a big hit with the readers of my blogs ( Hint: think gaming desk and much more...)  Check out the site here for more information: KVL Projects

I am getting back to playing games... Again...

The games blog has be like a ghost town with not much activity apart form a tumble weed or two... But that is going to change soon as i have been planning to feature a mixture of games over the coming months and showcase some of my favourite games...

Night Out At the Opera...

At the end of November I was given an unexpected surprise when my parents got me tickets to a concert to go see Andrea Bocelli at the Birmingham LG Arena and the other great thing about this concert was the fact Lindsey Stirling was due to performing as a supporting artist... ( her new album is playing the background as I write this... Check it out on amazon here: http://amzn.to/1vaGthe) The show was amazing and just fantastic to see, the sound was great and he performed perfectly on all his songs and in my opinion is still one of the best classical singers and performers. Sadly Lindsey Stirling was not performing that night and though it was a little disappointing not to see her perform "Take Flight" off the new album the show was great and very entertaining and Lucy Kay who was a supporting act was amazing and here voice complimented Andrea Bocelli perfectly. All in all a great show and a great night out.

Black Friday Sales...

I got some great deals on the sales during the week and and will be writing up some reviews on these items in the near future.

Other Stuff...

I was also in Scotland since posting my last blog post and had good break away from it all, Plenty of walking and relaxing by the log burning stove on the night time, perfect break away from the everyday life, I am at the happiest I have been in a long time and looking forward to the future... Everything seems to be on the up and I have passed over 25000 page views on this blog. There is plenty of content on its way to all the blogs soon and I am loving Instagram and will be posting on there at least once a day...

Thanks for reading and supporting the blog...

Moving forward, photography projects and more...

When I first started the blog I never imagined were it was going to lead and in the past several months I have been planning some great content for over the holidays and in to next year. It seems recently that I am always working on somethings and making stuff but there comes a point were you can take too much on and things can get side tracked, this is the case with two projects in particular...

I have been planning one photography project for the last couple of months and hope to get it under way in the coming weeks, this is something I have wanted to do for a while and it will be a nice break for the normal everyday business.

Since getting a new phone I have been playing around with several apps and will have  some app reviews up very soon also I am going to be posting Instagram photos to my new Instagram account were you could catch sneak peaks of prop builds and the many projects I am involved with. If you are interested in what I am doing be sure to follow me on Instagram here: http://goo.gl/Ny1NIk

There is plenty of stuff going on at the moment and though it seems the blogs have been silent for a while I have been working away on three projects that will be posted during November and December. There will be about 4 or 5 gift guides on the review blog to help showcase some of the top presents for the up and coming holiday season.

The Photography blog will have a large update very soon as I have been photo editing and making a few bits for the blog over the past month so be sure to check them out.

Life Update 09/08/14

I have been back from holiday for a few days and I am back in to a work mood now, Holiday was great and was full of eventful moments I will not forget for a while. Over the 10 or so days I was away I took over 2500 photos and it has taken about 2 days to sort through them and edit them but this means i now have plenty of photos for the next few months. I visited several attractions in and around Torquay and have several videos of penguins and otters playing around and just acting cute so I will be putting a few YouTube videos up on my channel. Here is the first video I have edited together from the trip.

Review blog:
The review blog is going to have content very soon once I have ironed out a few of the issues with one or two reviews but computer product reviews will be out by the end of next week.

Photography blog:
Here are a few preview of photos I have posted recently: (more will be posted every few days for the rest of the month)

Woodworking blog:
The blog has been a great success and plenty of people seem to like the desk and the content I have created so I will be posting more over the next few months.

Updates: New Blog, More Content...

I have been working on many things recently not been able to blog as much as i would have liked to but while I have been away from the blogging I have managed to get plenty done and created a new blog that grew from the building of my new desk. The desk is fully built now and whole process from designing it to building it has ignited a passion for creating more wood working projects and getting back in to doing more 3D design work.

The new blog can be read here: kvl wood projects

I have not been blogging much over the past few weeks as I wanted to have a break and concentrate on building my desk and now it is done I am getting back in to blogging on all the blogs I am running as part of the blogging network.

Games Blog:
I have been building a few things on space engineers since the last update with the batteries and the solar panels it means that ships could become very interesting so I have decided to make a set of ships based around solar power which I will show off on the blog this next week.

Review Blog:
The computer parts reviews will be posted as soon as possible so stay tuned to see reviews of the computer components.

Woodwork Blog:
I have designed 4 more projects and will be putting together final plans for the next 2 builds. The builds will be coasters, natural wood box, modern style glass top coffee table and an outdoor table. The build will commence in one weeks time.

Photography Blog:
There will be plenty of photography updates very soon and I will be posting plenty of photos in the next couple of weeks as I have amassed a few photos over the past month and will be taking plenty more over the coming weeks.

Desk Building Project

I have been working on this project for about 2 months now and have been putting together plans that are now ready to enter in to the next stages of the project. I have created plenty of plans and have over 40 sketch up designs and cad drawings that I have used to refine and develop the desk over the past month.

I am going to document the build process and show off the build on this blog at each stage of the final design and construction process. The desk is going to be a week long build using a mixture of old and new wood work techniques and the wood is going to be easily obtainable from most diy stores at affordable prices to keep cost low.

I will be building the desk over the next week or so and will feature the desk on this blog as it progresses.

Time, Gaming Rig, Watch dogs, Space Engineers & Updates

Time seems to go nowhere recently and it is hard to believe that it is already June. I have been looking over my work recently and am on two minds on where this blog is going and the type of content I want to make for this main blog. The blog has become may main place to post updates but there will be more creative stuff very soon.

I am looking at getting the final components for the Gaming rig that will be known as  "The Green Machine" and will be posting plenty of content when it is up and running It is taking longer to get parts as I am undecided on which graphics card to get as I have the option between three different cards.

Watch Dogs content is well on its way for the games blog and I have decided to stay away from writing a full blown review and to pin point and and highlight parts of the game in a set of articles over this next month as the game has many interesting talking points that can be raised as you play through the story line and the side missions.

Also on the games blog there is going to be some more space engineers content once a few of the issues are ironed out as the recent patch is running slow and some of the block are not working too well, it seems to be something to do with something in the code with the merge block that has caused a few of the ships I  was building to bug out and break.

Update Time: 27.05.2014

The blog page has been a little quiet recently and its due to the face that I have been busy trying out a few ideas and growing more content for the photography blog.

The blogging network is like a set of spinning plates and it takes a lot of time and effort to keep the sites up to date and running smoothly, but at times I have to break away from all the sites to help grow aspects of the network to keep it looking fresh and to make new and interesting content so that is why there has not been much content recently.

I will be releasing a few reviews on the review blog in the next month or so once I have all the parts sourced and the final parts for the gaming PC have arrived and I can test them fully, So keep up to date check out the review blog in a month or so for reviews on products from Corsair, AMD, Asus, Aerocool, Tecknet and many more companies.

The games blog is going through a few changes as I am not happy with recent content I have made and feel it is not up to the standard it should be so I have decided to make some new ideas that will feature several games and explore more elements of the video game industry.

The photography blog is going strong and I have plenty of ideas and opportunity to get plenty of photos in the next few weeks and months so I will be posting a few updates each week and showcasing a new photography project I have been involved in over the past few months.

Thanks for reading and supporting the blog.

Everyone Procrastinates... How To Stop...

Everyone procrastinates as it is part of human nature... If you every talk to someone and they say they don't procrastinate you can tell 100% that they are lying...

The definition of procrastination according to Wikipedia is as follows:
Procrastination is the practise of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the "last minute" before the deadline.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Procrastination

There are many ways to help reduce the urge to procrastinate and to keep on track with your day and keep to a strict schedule. If you find yourself always procrastinating try the following steps:
1. Make a to-do list.
2. Clear your workspace of all distractions.
3. Set yourself deadlines
4. Set reminders on your phone to keep on top of your day.
5. Try multitasking to increase your productivity

The main thing to remember:
Procrastination can be a problem but if you try hard enough you can beat it. It is all up to you as an individual to get past procrastinating and to get motivated to get things done....

Do you have any ways you use to beat procrastination?

WW2 Dambusters, Walking, Photography, The Ladybower Inn & More...

I have been away over the weekend and had a break in the country side and in the surrounding areas of
Ladybower Reservoir and the Derwent dams.

The break away was great and allowed me to get some photography done along with some more timelapse footage that i will be releasing soon once i have done some editing.

The area is amazing and is full of amazing places to see and some of the most scenic walks in the area with a rich history linked to the Dambusters operations of WW2.

The area has plenty of walks and bike tracks with great facilities offering cycle hire and refreshments.
We stayed in a local hotel called the Ladybower Inn that was perfect and offered great value for money and a nice place to rest and relax on a night after a long day of walking. The accommodation was nicely set out and peaceful.

The pub connected to the accommodation offered high quality meals with plenty of selection for small and large appetites and good selection of beer and drinks to suit everyone. The full cooked breakfast included in the accommodation is out of this world and sets you up for a full day of walking and outdoor activities in the area.

The area is well worth a visit and the stay at the Ladybower Inn was great and I would highly recommend the hotel to walkers and everyone in the area.

Be sure to check out my YouTube channel for more photography and time lapse work from the trip.

Writers Block, Self Doubt, Gaming & More...

Writers block can be one of the most annoying things when it comes to creating blogs and Internet content as it can have devastating results with viewing figures and YouTube channels...

I am currently in the first stages of starting to get writers block and this is my answer to getting away form it and trying to resume my normal schedule of working on the blogging network and my general everyday work.

I seem to get writers block every three months or so and find that the only to get out of it is to just push through it and write a page of pure nonsense and pick through it for even the smallest idea to just kick start the creative flow again. This is my main way of getting through it and making a start on work again and trying to move ahead with my work.

As many of my readers have noticed over the past few years I have started many projects and never really finished them and the main reason for this is the fact that when it comes to releasing a final projects I stop myself from posting it out if I am not 100% happy with it. It the curse of the content creator and it can lead to many hours spent working being wasted over the silly and insignificant self doubt of the creator themselves.

I am going to be creating some new time-lapse videos over the next few months and have a few major ideas that will boost the reach of the blogging network and help to improve the way content is created and how the readers can be more involved. I have some major plans to push the gaming content and make more games related posts and videos in the near future once my new gaming rig is fully set up.

I am looking on covering some gaming events this year and next year and building up a larger portfolio of gaming content plus making more video and photography content for the readers of the blog and the viewers on YouTube.

Productivity, Creativity, Design & Work

There are many things that can get in the way of a working day and recently I have found a few ways to keep on track and keep my creativity and productivity as active as possible. I am always busy with something and I have plenty of work with both the web design work and running the blogging network week in week out.

Productivity:
I have been think more about the network and how it is growing and the schedule that I started at the start of this year and how it limits the viewing figures and the way the search engine optimisation has been effected.

So from now on I will be keeping the games blog postings on a Monday and Friday but in the case of the main blog and the photography blog I will be posting when ever I feel like posting and not limiting the blog to just one day a week, this means you get more content throughout the week and allows for more creativity and productivity on the blogging network.

Creativity:
Creativity is a major part of my work and much of the content I make means that I am always doing something be it writing, taking photographs, playing games or just planning stuff for the network so when it comes to having a break I try to make the most it. But with the way the Internet is going it seems that if you take a break you can lose out on views and your search engine optimisation can suffer. This means that content creators like myself have to stock pile content for the times when we want to take a break so I am going to stockpile some articles of the next few months for any occasions when I take a break or go on holiday.

Design Work:
There are a few design projects I am working on and I am really enjoying the process of designing the graphics for a website that is going to feature some great watercolours of cars that should be popular with car fans around the world. I will tell you more once we have developed the site and it is ready to launch.

General Work:
I am currently in the process of helping to write a book that is still in development so once we have developed the project more I will be releasing more details soon. I am currently planning for a break and will have plenty of photos and content that will be on many of the blogs so be sure to keep an eye on the sites and follow me on twitter so you don't miss out.

WWW. 25 Years On...

The internet is 25 years old and its creator Sir Tim Berners Lee has celebrated the day by releasing a video that sums up the internet and how we are heading in to the future.
http://www.w3.org/

In the statement he said the following:

“The Web’s billions of users are what have made it great,” said Berners-Lee. “I hope that many of them will join me today in celebrating this important milestone. I also hope this anniversary will spark a global conversation about our need to defend principles that have made the Web successful, and to unlock the Web’s untapped potential. I believe we can build a Web that truly is for everyone: one that is accessible to all, from any device, and one that empowers all of us to achieve our dignity, rights and potential as humans.”

The internet has allowed for some of the greatest advancements in recent history and is the corner stone for the future that will help to shape how we live our lives and how we use technology.

In my view I believe the future of the internet is only secure and can only grow as long as it is open to everyone and its users are protected in a fair and just manner which allows for freedom to express themselves and create new opportunities and advance the internet for future use and to make it better and more accessible to everyone.

The mass surveillance of internet users is a major problem as it has lead to many issues when it comes to a person right to privacy and the unlawful acts by many governments around the world and persecution of whistle blowers like Edward Snowden and wiki leaks who have helped to protect the users of the internet by alerting us all to the danger we face when we go online.

The future of the internet will need everyday users to become more informed and to help the development and funding of better encrypted services and open source software to help combat the spying that has tainted the internet over the past few years and with time the internet will grow and become something we might never imagine.

The Internet is a gift to the world and it is very hard to imagine a world without it as we would not have seen many of the events in past history.

Question of the day:

What does the internet mean to you?

Back To Work...

I have had the past two days off to relax and not have to work as we have managed to get a break from the daily routine... Most days the the past 4 months have been the same day in day out routine with not much change but after getting the chance to have a break I have got some photograpghy done and managed to travel a little to create some new content for some future blog posts and to focus on getting back on track.

I have had the chance to visit some more english heritage sites and get some more photos and to gather some more idas for the blog without having to worry about the normal day to day stuff that sometimes gets in the way so be sure to keep an eye out for some photograpghy and a few extra articles over the next few weeks.

I will be posting a games blog on friday and updating the photography blog on sunday.

Toxic Internet: Flappy Bird Is Gone. Death Threats...

Flappy Bird is gone and lost to the ages and outrage has spread to the far corners of the Internet were the developer is now getting more death threats more than ever before.

Flappy Bird is one of them games that was never anything special and was cloned from many different games from the past which have been around since before the 1990's and it was just a re-skinned game that blew up all over the Internet, The game was quite entertaining for a laugh but after it got so big it lead to the dark recesses of the Internet becoming more and more frustrated and violent which lead to the developer getting death threats... The developer took the app off the app stores due to the addictive nature of the game and the amount of attention he was getting online.
If you are in need of the flappy bird fix check out this game here on google play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seriouscorp.clumsybird&hl=en_GB
(it is not as good as flappy bird but should fulfil the needs of someone in need of a fix.)

The Internet can be a toxic place with many people who want to attack and threaten people but many of these people don't realise that everything can be tracked and be seen by nearly everyone on the Internet. We have seen many issues arise on the Internet over the years and the whole toxic side of the Internet comes from the old idea that you can hide behind a picture or a fake name and say destructive and horrible stuff to anyone you wish and in recent years we are seeing a rise in the amount of death threats that are thrown at people on sites such as twitter, facebook and other social media.

There are many places around the world that take Internet abuse and death threats very seriously and even prosecuted people for threatening peoples lives of total strangers. There are many sites out there that say to ignore such behaviour and to sweep it under the rug but the law is on the side of anyone who gets threatened with such severe threats and perpetrators can face serious consequences for there actions. You would not go up to someone in the middle of a crowded street and scream a death threat in their face as you would most likely be arrested so why do it on the Internet.
Always think before you post anything to the Internet as once the that button is pressed there is no going back...

This is an interesting topic and i would hope this starts a conversation in the comment section below so why not post your thoughts on the toxic state of the Internet and your thoughts...

Blogging: Internet Originality & Blogging Advice

There are lots of people who blog from nearly every corner of the world and this means that you will find a blog for nearly everything you could ever think of. This means that the competition for getting your work viewed by a large audience is not an easy job and takes a large amount of hard work to be seen by a potential audience.

This blog has been going for many years and although it could be seen as a "big blog" with over 20000 page views plus a large range of readers and supporters it is still a small grain of sand in a large beach that is the Internet and like the tide you see many sites come and go as time moves on. I have data from the past few years that show a large portion of readers have grown with the blog and seem to like the content I have created and continue to create from day to day, but also have a large amount of readers that have moved on from my main blog to my other blogs as I have set them up.

Internet Originality:
No idea is fully original and you will find many bloggers covering the same things and competing for the dream of a large following and audience that can help a blog get to the next level but along the way you have to follow the trends and sometimes write about topics that you might not usually cover to draw in new supporters and readers which can somethime mean you lose a few readers along the way but this is how the Internet works.

Blogging Advice:
The secret to growing a blog is to go with the flow and not get caught up in the game of numbers and focus too much on the viewing numbers and page ranks as you will end up giving up very early on. When people have asked me for advice about blogging I always say you should do what you think is best and enjoy yourself... it is up to you how you want to blog and what to blog about as you are the only one that can make that decision.

Thanks for reading and supporting the blogging network.

The Future Of The Internet: What Is Trending?

The Internet has undergone many changes over the years and many companies have disappeared in to the dark depths of the Internet.

Recently an article has been circulating about Facebook losing users and the decline of the service they offer and after reading this I was not surprised as i am one of the many people who have not logged on for at least 6 to 8 months...

The Internet is based on trends and this means that things can be popular one day and then old news the next day, this is just a fact that that many content creators, game developers and companies have to deal with and this means that a company has to stay in constant development to be seen and heard as new news on the Internet. We have learnt a lot about a rise and fall of a company from Myspace, Napster, Facebook and the many other thousands of Internet companies that have buckled under the issues they face from competition.

There seems to be a shift in the marketplace recently with apple products as many more people are converting to the android system as it offers more choice and better value and as a result of this apple are not selling the most up to date models as they use to as even apple users are holding off knowing that there is always going to a be an upgrade in less than 4 months time...

No business is 100% safe as everything works in a trend based way were you have to stay relevant or fade in to the background and let the competitor get the upper hand... As our modern culture changes and more and more companies move to a online based way of working we have to ask the question:

What is going to happen to the local corner shop and the pubs?

The biggest worry many people have today is the problem with privacy and security especially with the NSA and other security organisations building databases on everyone and monitoring every ones activities on the Internet and phones it raises many questions about the future of the technology business and is our privacy ever going to be the same again.

The Internet is always growing and businesses will come and go but it is up to the users to support a service as long as they want to do so...

What do you think the future of the Internet holds?
